Challenge Misinformation

Should we ignore the misinformation out there and just discuss these issues with like-minded people and those that we think could be persuaded to understand the issues? The problem is that there is so much false information out there that it begins to be repeated as if it is true. If you know the actual facts then you can at least respond well to those that ask 'What about ....?'. Having a debate with those that fervently believe and spread these lies is certainly more challenging, it may not be the best use of your time, and while it can be disheartening to successfully counter every point some one comes up with but realise you have made no differenc to their core beliefs - some people will change their minds.
